Client Engineer / Functional Architect (Intelligence Stack)

AKJ Group

About AKJ

AKJ has established a long track record of success in the asset management and fintech space, with clients in 35 countries, $2B in ecosystem assets, and five regulatory jurisdictions, along with being an eight-time recipient of HFM's Best Hedge Fund Platform award.  But we are only getting started and are now at a pivotal moment as we build the foundation for the next era of asset management.

AKJ is redefining how asset management work gets done. As 24/7 markets, agentic AI, and tokenisation reshape an industry most legacy providers can't keep pace with, we are developing the AKJ Intelligence Stack: the first AI-native, integrated platform combining regulated infrastructure, agentic orchestration, and embedded execution within one architecture. We are also the only regulated, execution-grade alternative to the AI vendors now entering asset management.  AKJ has a regulatory moat that would require years to replicate — with a staged plan to help shape the industry's next decade.

We are looking for exceptional builders, thinkers and operators who want to work at the intersection of frontier AI and regulated finance – people that can see the future and want to help shape it.  We look forward to the prospect of you joining our team!

About the role

We're a fast-growing fintech platform provider delivering cloud-based solutions to banks, financial institutions, family offices, fintechs and corporate customers across Europe. Our platform helps these organisations improve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer experience and financial performance.

This is a technical, customer-facing role with two remits:

1. Pre-sales technical expertise — show prospects what the platform can do, and why it fits their business.

2. Solution design and technical credibility — translate customer requirements into workable, defensible architectures. Leading to successful implementations.

You are the technical partner to our Sales and Relationship Executives throughout the sales and implementation cycle. You won't be expected to write the platform's code — you'll be expected to understand it deeply, demonstrate it convincingly, and design around it credibly, so prospects can evaluate us with confidence and Sales can close with the right scope agreed. This is a hands-on role for someone who is as comfortable in a boardroom with a CFO as in a technical deep-dive with an integration team.

What you'll do

1. Pre-sales support

  • Partner with Sales teams to qualify opportunities and assess customer requirements.
  • Run discovery workshops with prospects and existing customers.
  • Deliver product demonstrations tailored to each customer's use case.
  • Present technical and business value propositions to both executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Support proof-of-concepts (POCs), pilots and technical evaluations end-to-end.

2. Solution design

  • Design solution architectures that align with customer business and technical requirements.
  • Advise customers on integration approaches, APIs, security frameworks and implementation considerations.
  • Produce technical documentation, solution diagrams and implementation recommendations.
  • Identify risks, dependencies and technical constraints early in the sales cycle, and flag them clearly.

3. Technical expertise

  • Maintain deep knowledge of the company's platform, APIs, infrastructure and product roadmap.
  • Understand the wider fintech landscape — fund management, risk and compliance as well as financial-services workflows.
  • Stay current on European regulatory frameworks — PSD2, Open Banking, GDPR, AML, KYC and related requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance during customer procurement and due-diligence processes.

4. Commercial collaboration

  • Work closely with Account Executives to shape winning sales strategies.
  • Contribute to RFP, RFI and tender responses.
  • Support pricing discussions by articulating technical scope and implementation effort.
  • Help build business cases and ROI assessments for prospects.

5. Cross-functional collaboration

  • Feed market and customer insight back to Product and Engineering.
  • Work with Customer Success and Relationship Management on smooth handovers after contract signature.
  • Contribute to sales enablement materials and internal training.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • 3–5 years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, Pre-Sales or Solution Architecture.
  • Experience in fintech, banking technology, payments or enterprise SaaS.
  • Proven track record supporting complex B2B sales cycles, including senior stakeholders across multiple European markets.
  • Solid understanding of SaaS platforms and cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, FIX, integrations, REST services and data-exchange frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise architecture, security and identity-management concepts.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong presentation, demonstration and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe for customer meetings, workshops and industry events.

Desirable

  • Background in investment management, wealth management, trading or regulatory technology.
  • Experience with FIX and API ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with financial messaging standards such as FIX Protocol and  ISO 20022.
  • Experience with cloud platforms — AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Exposure to enterprise integration and middleware technologies.
  • Additional European languages an advantage

Nice to have

  • Relevant industry or vendor certifications.
  • Experience contributing to a product roadmap based on field feedback.
  • A track record of mentoring or enabling less experienced Sales Engineers or Account Executives.
